Too Late for Drug Rehab?

In a recent media story out of Port Orange, Florida, there was a horrifying account of a 14-year-old teenager and his friend who had died of an Oxycontin overdose that the teen had gotten from his father. Upon further investigation, it was found that the father had been investigated several times by the state over the past eight years. According to wesh.com,  “There have been allegations of Reese giving his son prescription pills to sell at school, complaints of drug use and sales and even accusations that Reese traded cocaine for custody of his son.  Friends said they’re in disbelief after the 14-year-old died. On Friday, DCF records revealed he died from overdosing on his father’s OxyContin, a prescription that the state said the 52-year-old gets from the Veterans Administration and has been trading for cocaine.”

Of course the state will pursue punishing this apparent criminally negligent father, but then what? Will Reese return to society a further broken man, hardened by the prison system?

What is needed more than ever is a successful drug rehab that can turn one’s life around, a drug rehab that finds the real “why” behind drug use so the user no longer has that desire to return to a drug-filled life.  So many success stories come out of Narconon Riverbend where this is the case.  It is hoped that Reese finds this kind of help, not just for himself, but for all of society that he is involved in.

Created in 2006, Narconon Louisiana has helped hundreds of people achieve a life of sobriety and continually maintains over a 75% success rate of permanent recovery from addiction.
