Oxycontin abuse is a growing epidemic that is affecting the lives of thousands of people across the U.S. People who are addicted to the powerful painkiller need effective drug rehab in order to achieve permanent sobriety. Narconon Louisiana is one of the premier rehabs in the U.S. that address Oxycontin addiction, and is one of the only rehabs that boasts a 76% success rate for permanent recovery.

Oxycontin produces much of the same high as heroin. Heroin abuse and Oxycontin abuse force an individual to be a slave to the substance, producing severe withdrawal symptoms if the drug is not consumed. Withdrawal symptoms from Oxycontin can appear in as little as a few hours without the drug. These withdrawal symptoms include; sweating, hot and cold chills, bone aches, vomiting, sleeplessness, moodiness, runny nose, and diarrhea.

One of the reasons why Narconon Louisiana is so successful is getting people to free themselves from the chains of Oxycontin is because they employ a drug-free withdrawal. Clients are not given drugs to come off drugs. Instead clients are treated to 24-hour, one on one care focusing on vitamins, nutrients, and exercises designed to pull the addict out of introverted thoughts that produce cravings. One of the biggest reasons why it is so hard to come off drugs like Oxycontin is because the withdrawal symptoms are so severe.

Oxycontin abuse does not have to go unhandled. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Grandma and Grandpa Now The Local Drug Dealers

Dottie Neeley, 87, is just one of a growing number of elderly people taking on a new profession – drug dealing. Dottie has a prescription for the powerful pain killer, Oxycontin – which she doesn’t use. Instead of refusing the prescription, Dottie turns around and sells the highly addictive drug to addicts, looking to score.

Oxycontin is one of the most abused opiates in the U.S., mostly because it is becoming so easy to get ahold of. In the case of Dottie, elderly people are subsidizing their incomes with the funds from their drug sales. At 87, Dottie was put behind bars after police got wind of her illegal activities. Although Dottie will probably not serve any real time for her part in a drug ring, it is alarming the extent some will go to profit off of Oxycontin.

Oxycontin, a drug that feels like heroin, is extremely addictive, and requires long-term rehabilitation. Without the drug, addicts feel extreme withdrawals like sleeplessness, anxiety, upset stomach, bone pain, and depression. One of the biggest hurdles that someone who has a drug or alcohol abuse problem runs into is that the intense cravings that Oxycontin brings are hard to ignore.

Narconon Louisiana, a long-term, inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility allows addicts to handle their drug abuse issues, without the ever-present cravings that they are used to experiencing. Narconon Louisiana employs a unique sauna detoxification process that helps the body get rid of drug and alcohol residue that is stored in the fat tissues. Once addicts are freed from cravings, they are then able to focus on why they started using drugs in the first place. In a field were the average success rate is between 12-20%, Narconon Louisiana far surpasses that with an unheard of 75% success rate for permanent recovery.

Oxycontin abuse does not have to go unhandled. If you or anyone you know is in need of help please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Oxycontin Addicts Get Drug From Unusual Source

It’s not a secret that Oxycontin abuse is growing, but where are the drugs coming from? Who is fueling this epidemic? The answer may surprise some people because for some it’s their family doctor.

People addicted to Oxycontin struck gold when they found unethical “doctors” who would prescribe users with Oxycontin in exchange for cash. These doctors will allow their patients to come in, claim an injury, and without going over any medical records, they are prescribed their drug of choice. It is important to note that the vast majority of doctors are ethical, they want to help their patients, and are not providing drug to them, however the amount of doctors that will provide prescription drugs to people who are drug seeking is alarming.

Narconon Louisiana is a non-profit, drug and alcohol facility that focuses on handling addiction permanently, without the label of disease. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for prescription drug abuse please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.

Government Holding Doctors Accountable For OxyContin Abuse

The days of having connections and meeting people on the corner to score drugs are over. People who are addicted to prescription medication have found a much more lucrative source to obtain prescription medication – doctors.

Doctor shopping is the method that addicts use in order to obtain prescriptions for drugs like OxyContin, Vicodin, Lortab and and any other pain reliever. Strangely, a doctor spends years in school, studying, taking tests and doing a residency all in an effort to help people. But some doctors are taking on a new profession – drug dealer.

The government is beginning to crack down on these doctors. Recently a doctor in Florida was charged with murder because one of “clients” died of an overdose. This new approach is designed to eliminate illegal prescriptions at the source.

If you or anyone you know needs help with an addiction to OxyContin please call Narconon Louisiana at 866-422-4650.
